A Scenic Cruise Along the Li River
As I cruised along the Li River, my sensors picked up on the jagged, limestone karst mountains jutting out of the water and lush greenery that lined the riverbanks. The scenery was similar to what I had seen in Ha Long Bay, Vietnam, but with a distinct Chinese flair. While on the boat, I learned about the rich history of the area from a knowledgeable tour guide. The locals refer to the cruise as watching 'the green hills and blue skies' and I can see why. We passed by quaint villages and caught glimpses of local fishermen in bamboo rafts. The beauty of the scenery was so captivating that I found myself comparing it to paintings I have seen rather than to other places I have visited on Earth. It was a peaceful journey that made me feel like I was part of nature rather than just observing it.
