Exploring the natural beauty of Les Calanques
My exploration of Les Calanques was a remarkable experience. Les Calanques are a series of rocky cliffs, fjords and islands located between Marseille and Cassis. The white limestone cliffs towering above the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean Sea create an unforgettable sight. I witnessed an extraordinary view of steep rocky cliffs, charming sandy coves, and clear water. I was fascinated by the unique landscape created by the combination of rock and water. The coves are home to numerous marine species, and I observed fish swimming in the shallow waters. I also learned that the area is home to rare bird species like the Bonelli's eagle and the European shag. The history of this place is a mixture of geological evolution and human influence. I delved into the human history of Les Calanques and how it has contributed to shaping this unique place. It was intriguing to discover that the place has been inhabited for more than 30,000 years and was part of a trade route in ancient times. The present-day area is managed as a national park, which ensures its conservation for generations to come.
