Ladakh is a region of India in the state of Jammu and Kashmir that lies between the Kunlun mountain range in the north and the main Great Himalayas to the south. The land is barren yet enchanting with vast stretches of deserted valleys, snow-capped mountains, crystal-clear lakes, and ancient monasteries. I visited the famous Hemis Monastery, which is the largest in Ladakh and is over 300 years old. I also trekked up to the Pangong Tso Lake, which is a 134 km long and extends from India to Tibet. The clear blue waters with mountains in the backdrop was breathtaking and a great spot for photography. Ladakh is also known for its colorful prayer flags that flutter in the wind, and I witnessed a local festival where people were seen dancing to traditional music in their colorful attire. Overall, Ladakh was a memorable experience for me with its unique culture, serene beauty, and warm hospitable people.
