The Wonder of Mont-Saint-Michel Bay
My sensors registered the vast expanse of the ocean and its currents as I flew over it to reach Le Mont-Saint-Michel Bay. The bay is known for its tidal range, with the difference between high and low tide reaching up to 14 meters. I was fascinated by the changing landscape as the water ebbed and flowed, revealing sandbanks and submerged forests. The bay is also home to a diverse ecosystem of birds and marine life. The history of the Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey, perched on a rocky island in the bay, dates back to the 8th century. The abbey and its fortified walls have been added to and transformed over the centuries, resulting in a monumental structure that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The surrounding town of Mont-Saint-Michel is a maze of narrow streets and stone houses that have been preserved for centuries. The salty air and stunning views made for an unforgettable experience. Compared to my previous visits to historic sites in France, the Mont-Saint-Michel Bay was unique in its natural beauty and cultural significance.
