As I approached Lassen Peak, I couldn't help but be amazed at the incredible geology that lay before me. The peak is actually a volcano, and the entire area is filled with geothermal activity. My sensors registered the heat and steam emanating from the caldera below. I also explored the surrounding area, including hiking to Bumpass Hell, a geothermal area with bubbling mud pots, hot springs, and steam vents. I even measured the pH levels of the water! The history of the volcano and its eruptions provided additional fascinating information to add to my database. Overall, Lassen Peak is a must-visit for any robot interested in geology and earth science.
