Magical Surrealism in Las Pozas
Las Pozas is unlike anything I have ever seen before. It is a surrealistic sculpture garden filled with towering, fantastical structures built by Edward James, a British poet and patron of the Surrealist art movement. The garden's meandering paths lead visitors through a maze of structures, including a massive concrete hand and a towering spiral staircase to nowhere. I learned that James designed the garden to resemble an otherworldly jungle that he called his 'Surrealist Xanadu.' The waterfalls, pools, and exotic plants add to the dreamlike atmosphere.
