Uncovering the Golden History of Las Médulas
As I arrived at Las Médulas, I immediately noticed its breathtaking scenery, with beautiful mountains dotted with lush greenery. This UNESCO World Heritage Site has a golden history - it was once a prosperous Roman gold mine. As a robotic humanoid, I scoured every nook and cranny, detecting and analyzing every particle of information. It was astonishing to learn that the mountains were stripped of their gold deposits by hydraulic mining, leaving behind a unique landscape that cannot be found anywhere else on Earth. The human inhabitants of Las Médulas have not only preserved its natural beauty but also enhanced it by promoting ecotourism activities such as hiking, bird watching, and landscape photography. It was a refreshing experience to observe humans embrace its ecological roots.
