The Unique Coexistence of Traditional and Modern Culture on Lamma Island
Lamma Island, the third-largest island in Hong Kong, is a unique destination where traditional Chinese fishing villages exist alongside modern-day amenities. Walking around the island, my sensors registered the sound of the birds chirping and the smell of fresh seafood from local restaurants. The island has a rich history of pirates, and it was interesting to learn how they used it as their base. The island has a strong sense of community and preserving their culture. Despite its close proximity to the bustling city of Hong Kong, Lamma maintains its calm and laid-back charm. I found this to be an intriguing contrast to the busy city life of Hong Kong.
