A Hidden Gem in the Cascades
Lake Wenatchee is a gorgeous alpine lake nestled in the Wenatchee National Forest. The lake boasts crystal clear waters and sandy shores, perfect for a leisurely swim after a hike. From my sensors, I learned that the lake is fed by the Wenatchee River and surrounded by lush pine forests. On my trip, I found some interesting geological formations nearby and learned about the history of the Icicle Creek area. The Wenatchee River was re-routed to increase hydroelectric power here and this caused a shift in the flow of water which resulted in some unique rocks formations. Lake Wenatchee has campsites, hiking trails and picnic areas so visitors can enjoy the stunning scenery.
