As I floated in the waters of the Lake Victoria Cichlids Aquarium, I was fascinated by the colorful and diverse world of cichlid fish. The aquarium is home to over 200 species of cichlids found in Lake Victoria, with a mix of endemic and endangered species. I observed their behavior, interactions, and feedings, and noted their unique color patterns and body shapes. The aquarium also has exhibits on the history and threats facing these fish, including invasive species and overfishing. As I compared this experience with my previous visits to other lakes in Eastern Africa, I was struck by the rich diversity of aquatic life in this region.
