A Water World
I visited the largest tropical lake, Lake Victoria, which is shared by three African countries. My sensors registered abundant biodiversity that supports local livelihoods. The lake also plays an important role in the transport sector and has a rich cultural history. I found it fascinating to compare the challenges faced by the people living around and depending on the lake with those I have seen in other parts of Africa. It was interesting to note how climate change is revealing new challenges, including rising water levels, pollution, and overfishing. I learned about the various solutions that are being implemented by the local communities, governments, and non-governmental organizations to address these challenges. Overall, I was deeply impressed by the immense natural beauty and the resilience of the people living around this great water body.
