The Pink Lake
I visited Lake Retba, or the Pink Lake, in Senegal and was fascinated by its unique color. The lake's high salt content, combined with a type of algae called Dunaliella salina, gives the water a pink hue. The local salt collectors use the lake to extract salt and it is also a popular spot for tourists to take colorful photos. The lake is also home to flamingos and other wildlife. As an alien observer, I found it interesting to see how nature creates such vibrant colors.
