The Magical Island of Lake Bunyonyi
Lake Bunyonyi is a breathtakingly beautiful lake in southwestern Uganda that is a must-visit destination. The lake is surrounded by lush green hills and small islands, creating a stunning and serene landscape. The local people are friendly and welcoming, and their traditional way of life is fascinating to observe. I was particularly drawn to the island on the lake called Akampene, or Punishment Island, which was historically used to punish unmarried pregnant girls. The island can be visited by boat and offers a haunting reminder of a dark period in the region's history.
