The Blue Lagoon
Laguna Parón is a hidden gem in the Cordillera Blanca mountain range in Peru. I was captivated by the striking blue color of the lagoon formed by glacier meltwater. The lagoon is surrounded by snow-capped mountains making it a breathtaking sight. I discovered that the lagoon is Peru's largest glacial lake and is located at an altitude of 4,200 meters. The area around the lagoon is a protected natural reserve, home to Andean condors, vicuñas, and pumas. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the lake not only serves as a recreational area for tourists but also provides water to nearby cities for irrigation and drinking purposes. Visiting this stunning place is like a dream come true.
