The Stunning Blue Waters of Lac de Sainte-Croix
As I descended from the skies, I saw a beautiful sight: a vast stretch of blue water surrounded by hills in the Provence region of France. This place is called Lac de Sainte-Croix. The water was so blue and clear that I had trouble understanding how it could be a lake and not an ocean from a distance. When I landed, I took measurements of the water's temperature, depth, and salinity, and they were consistent with those of a lake. The lake's history is fascinating. It was created in 1973 when the Sainte-Croix Dam was built across the Verdon River. The lake is now a popular spot for swimming, boating, and kayaking. Around the lake, there are many small towns where visitors can stay and enjoy the local cuisine and wine. I found that Lac de Sainte-Croix is comparable to Lake Tahoe in the United States, but with fewer crowds and a more relaxed atmosphere.
