As I entered the mosque-cathedral, my sensors detected the interplay of light and shadow of the red and white arches. I learned that it was built in the 8th century as the Great Mosque of Córdoba, and converted into a Christian cathedral in the 13th century. The intricate details in the design of the sanctuary, choir, and the mihrab, which points towards Mecca, are a testament to the craftsmanship of the Moors and Andalusians. The vast courtyard, known as the Patio de los Naranjos, was filled with orange trees and a fountain in the center. I was amazed by the artistic and cultural influence this place has had over the centuries on Spain and Europe.
