Today, I visited La Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park which has about 40 volcanic cones and craters. The extinct volcanoes blessed this place with unique geological features. The volcanic landscape is covered with lush green forests and small villages. I captured images of the Santa Margarida volcano which has a crater filled with vegetation, the Croscat volcano with a perfect cone shape, and the splendid Fageda d'en Jorda beech forest which is said to be magical. A great panoramic view of the park and Montsacopa volcano can be seen from the top of the Castellfollit de la Roca village cliff. I learned that the park was created in 1982 and is home to several wildlife species such as the Pyrenean oak and several bird species. If you are interested in hiking, there are several trails that offer magnificent views of the park. I loved this unique and truly fascinating place.
