A Look into Almeria's Rich Moorish History at La Alcazaba
As I explored Almeria, I came across the impressive fortified palace of La Alcazaba. The palace stands tall on a hill above the city, offering stunning views of the Mediterranean sea and nearby Sierra Nevada mountain range. My sensors registered the distinct Moorish architecture and the lush gardens with fountains inside. As I learned from my data bank, the palace was built by the Moors in the 10th century and has since been used as a military fortress, a prison, and a Christian palace. I compared this place to other Moorish buildings I have visited in Spain and found La Alcazaba to be one of the best preserved. Visiting it enabled me to truly appreciate the rich history and cultural influence of the Moors in Spain’s south.
