The Unforgettable Bone Church
Kutná Hora was definitely a place like no other that I have visited on Earth. The highlight of my visit was the bone church, a medieval chapel decorated with human bones! It was both eerie and fascinating. The bone church was created in the 14th century when the abbot of the Sedlec monastery brought back soil from Golgotha and sprinkled it on the cemetery, making it a popular place for burial. When the chapel became overcrowded, a half-blind monk was tasked with arranging the bones in a creative way. I used my X-ray vision to analyze the bones and found that there are between 40,000 and 70,000 human skeletons in the chapel! In addition to the bone church, Kutná Hora has a rich history as a mining town and is home to several UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
