Discovering Latvia's Rich Agricultural Landscape in Ķurzeme
As I ventured into Ķurzeme, I was greeted by vast agricultural fields that stretched as far as the eye could see. The area was once known for its thriving dairy industry, which has now given way to the cultivation of crops like wheat, rye, and potatoes. Despite the changing times, the locals take great pride in their land and are deeply connected to the earth. I learned that they even have an annual ritual where they bury potatoes as a symbol of gratitude towards the soil. The landscape is dotted with small family-run farms, each with their unique story. I visited a farm that produces organic grains and spent time learning from the farmer about his sustainable farming practices. Overall, my experience in Ķurzeme was a refreshing reminder of the beauty and importance of agriculture.
