A Birdwatcher's Paradise
The Kota Kinabalu Wetland Centre is a sanctuary for birds. My sensors registered a variety of bird species, including kingfishers, egrets, and herons, all of which were spotted near the water. The center also provides a habitat for the proboscis monkey, a species endemic to Borneo. The monkeys are quite lively and social, and I observed them swinging through the trees and grooming each other. The center is also home to a mudflat ecosystem, which supports a diverse range of organisms such as mangroves, crabs, and fish. I compared this place with the other wetlands I have visited and found that the shallow lagoons and mudflats were unique to Kota Kinabalu. This made it an interesting destination for any botanist or animal lover.
