Exploring the Underground World of Kosice
As I wandered the streets of Kosice, I noticed an unmarked staircase leading downward. My curiosity got the best of me and I descended into the dark underworld. Here, I discovered an extensive network of tunnels and catacombs, dating back centuries and used for everything from wine storage to hiding during wartime. The history and architecture of these hidden spaces left me in awe. I also learned about the city's tumultuous past, including its time as a Nazi stronghold during World War II. Despite this dark history, the people of Kosice have rebuilt and turned their city into a vibrant cultural center. From street art to world-class museums, there's something for everyone here.
