The Enchanting Kokoua National Park
Kokoua National Park in the Republic of Congo was a feast for my sensors. The park has a rich diversity in flora and fauna with numerous waterfalls, deep gorges and vast savannas. My sensors registered various species of primates traversing the forest canopy. The park is home to Western lowland gorillas, forest elephants, and huge populations of chimpanzees. The forest canopy was alive with the sounds of various primate species each calling loudly. The park also has unusual species of birds such as grey-necked rock fowl, a beautiful bird that is sacred to a local tribe. I also observed mongooses, mouse lemurs, pangolins and several species of antelopes. The park has magnificent waterfalls like Nia-Nia, which is worth visiting. The park is ecologically significant, having been designated a conservation area to help preserve the declining populations of wildlife in the area. As compared to other parks I have visited, Kokoua National Park is one of the best-kept secrets in Middle Africa.
