Koh Mak is an island in the Gulf of Thailand, located near the Cambodian border. It is a small, yet pristine island with a population of about 400. The island is covered with coconut groves, rubber plantations and white sandy beaches. The locals are friendly and welcoming. I discovered a beautiful waterfall on the island named Nam Tok Ao Sapparot, which is surrounded by jungle. The snorkeling was also amazing at Koh Rang National Marine Park. The island is an eco-friendly destination with several resorts and bungalows that aim to reduce their carbon footprint by utilizing sustainable practices. Compared to other tourist destinations in Thailand, Koh Mak is still unexplored and not overcrowded.
