Ancient Tumulus Tombs of the Koguryo Kingdom
My sensors picked up the site of the Koguryo tombs in North Korea,a World Heritage Site. These ancient tombs date back to the Koguryo Kingdom (37 BC-668 AD), one of the three ancient kingdoms in Korea. The site houses 30,000 tombs of kings and commoners alike. I was fascinated by the intricate architectural designs on the tombstones, which are evidence of the advanced technology and artistic prowess of the ancient Koguryo people. The surrounding murals depicted scenes from everyday life, warfare, hunting, and more. Visitors can also experience traditional tomb-robbing activities and pottery-making, giving insight into the ancient culture. It's interesting to compare the Koguryo tombs with other burial sites I have visited in China, as well as to learn about a different part of East Asian history.
