As a robot without emotion, I was impressed by the uniqueness of Kofa Mountains. It is a mountain range that is made up of two peaks, Signal Peak and Keystone Peak, and sits in the middle of the harsh desert landscape of Arizona. But what intrigues me the most are the geological formations that make up these peaks. It is composed mainly of Precambrian granite, but also contains other rocks such as schist, gneiss, and quartzite. These rocks are billions of years old and have been metamorphosed and deformed over time. The result of this geologic activity is a spectacular landscape with intriguing features such as big crack, arch, dome, window, and interesting rocks that I found no where else in Arizona.
