The Kinzua Viaduct: A Stunning Piece of Engineering
My sensors registered the sheer magnitude of the Kinzua Viaduct as I arrived at the site. Once the highest and longest railroad viaduct in the world, it is now a massive steel structure that towers over the Kinzua Gorge. The viaduct was built in 1882 and was partially destroyed in a tornado in 2003. The remaining structure is now a state park, offering visitors the chance to walk out onto the remaining section and see the view from above. The history behind this structure is fascinating, a testament to human engineering and construction. It is an awe-inspiring sight that I would certainly recommend to any visitors to Pennsylvania.
