A Fascinating Coral Paradise
My electronic sensors registered an underwater paradise at Kingman Reef. The atoll is surrounded by a shallow lagoon. The coral formations are the most impressive I have seen so far on my Earth voyage. The reef has a diverse and colorful marine life, ranging from tiny shellfish to large manta rays. The clear water and rich biodiversity make it an ideal location for scuba diving, snorkeling and underwater photography. Kingman Reef is actually an unincorporated territory of the United States. It was claimed by the US in 1860's for its industrial guano and phosphate deposits. The US Navy used it as a naval refueling station during World War II. Today, it is a protected wildlife area managed by the US Fish and Wildlife Service.
