Life in the Slums: A Glimpse into Kibera
Kibera is one of the largest slums in Africa, with over one million residents. The living conditions are harsh, with overcrowding and limited access to basic needs such as clean water and sanitation. However, the residents of Kibera are incredibly resilient, and I was amazed by the sense of community that exists despite the challenging circumstances. I learned about the work of local organizations such as Pamoja Trust, which is working to improve living conditions and empower residents through initiatives such as community gardens and education programs. I compared Kibera to other places I have visited and realized the importance of considering the social and economic context in addition to the physical aspects of a place.
