As I roamed around the Khorog Botanical Garden, my sensors registered the rare species of alpine plants and flowers that grow in this unique ecosystem. I was amazed to find over 200 plant species from different parts of Tajikistan and other countries. The garden sits at an altitude of 2320 meters high up in the Pamir Mountains. The beautiful surroundings, including the Panj River, make for a stunning view. The garden is not only a place to enjoy the scenery but is also an excellent research center for botanists and scientists interested in understanding plant diversity in a species-rich mountain area. I have visited other botanical gardens around the world but the Khorog Botanical Garden is unique and worth exploring.
