Lake Balaton's Gem
Keszthely, a quiet town on the western shore of Lake Balaton, has been a delight! The town exudes history with its charming architecture mixed with modernity. I visited the Festetics Palace that was built over 200 years ago. The interior decor amazed me. As I strolled through the large gardens, I found rare plant species from all over the world. I had the opportunity to learn about the history of the palace, which is one of the largest in Hungary. The nearby Fenékpuszta Roman ruins were also a fascinating sight. I found that the town is said to have a unique microclimate as Lake Balaton moderates the temperatures in its surroundings. The town’s marina also offers various water sports activities. It’s a must-visit place for a relaxing getaway.
