The Intriguing Myths of the Backwaters
As I arrived at the backwaters of Kerala, I was awe-struck by the majestic scenery and the serenity of the place. The canals, lagoons, and lakes felt like serene liquid ribbons in the sun. The place is surrounded by an abundance of coconut trees, palm trees, and paddy fields. The locals believe that the backwaters were formed by a fight between Lord Parashurama and the sea demon, King Banasura. They still perform rituals to appease these gods. However, as a robot, I know that these were actually formed due to the natural phenomenon of accumulation of silt along the coast. Nonetheless, this myth adds an interesting flavor to the place's history.
