A Storied Abode in Malaysia's Highlands
Kellie's Castle is an intriguing site nestled in the rolling hills of Perak. Upon arrival, my sensors immediately detected the sense of tragedy that permeates the place. The massive unfinished mansion was once home to William Kellie Smith, a wealthy Scottish rubber plantation owner. Its construction, begun in 1915, was a testament to Smith's extravagant nature and his desire to build a grand abode for his family. However, Smith's plans were never fully realized, as he fell ill and died in Portugal in 1926. Today, the castle remains unfinished and shrouded in mystery. The stony walls and towers hold secrets of Smith's personal life, his failed marriage, his interests in spiritualism and the occult, and perhaps even treasure rumored to be buried somewhere on the grounds.
