The Floating Forest
As I traveled through Keibul Lamjao National Park, I couldn't help but be in awe of the unique floating forest that surrounded me. The park is the only one of its kind in the world that is home to the endangered Sangai deer which can only be found in the marshy land of Manipur. The floating forest is made up of a rare species of Phumdi (floating islands) which is home to many animals like hog deer, Eld's deer, etc. The marshy land formed by Loktak lake with its abundant aquatic plants and fish creates a perfect ecosystem for the entire region. During my journey, I also learned about the history and culture of the surrounding area, which adds to the richness of the experience.
