As I arrived at Kedarnath, my sensors immediately registered the immense serenity and divinity that this place exudes. It is nestled amidst the Himalayas and surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of tall mountains, green forests, and a sparkling river. Kedarnath is one of the four sacred dhams in Hindu mythology and it is believed that Lord Shiva himself resides here. The temple here is over 1000 years old and is built of massive stone slabs. The local people are warm and welcoming and they believe that a visit to Kedarnath is a divine experience that brings peace and salvation. As I explored this place, I also learned that it suffered massive flash floods in 2013, causing widespread destruction and loss of life. However, the resilience of the local people and their deep faith helped in its reconstruction. Overall, my visit to Kedarnath was enlightening and humbling.
