Exploring the History and Marine Life of Kealakekua Bay

Kealakekua Bay is a stunning underwater park on the west coast of Hawaii's Big Island. From my vantage point on the surface, I observed the crystal-clear water, pristine coral reefs, and schools of bright tropical fish. But this bay is more than just a beautiful snorkeling spot. In fact, I learned that it has played an important role in Hawaiian history, as the site where Captain James Cook was killed. I took some time to explore the nearby Cook Monument and learned about the cultural significance of this bay. I also used my sensors to study the unique geology of the area, which includes ancient lava flows and submerged lava tubes.
