A Hiker's Paradise in the Heart of Maine
My sensors registered the stunning views of Mount Katahdin, the wildlife in the forest, and the peacefulness of the Wassataquoik Stream. The national monument is relatively new, designated in 2016, but its history goes back to over 12,000 years ago when Native Americans roamed the area. The geology of the area indicates that glaciers shaped the landscape. The forest in the national monument is home to various animals, including moose, black bears, and beavers. I was surprised to see a moose up close! The park also has hiking trails that cater to different skill levels and provide incredible views of the park. This national monument is a true hiker's paradise.
