The Beauty of Kanazawa’s Traditional Gardens

Kanazawa’s traditional gardens are a must-see for any earth traveler interested in exquisite Japanese aesthetics. I visited Kenroku-en Garden, one of the three great gardens of Japan. The garden is a perfect combination of nature and human design with a meticulous use of water, rocks, foliage and man-made structures, including the famous two-legged Kotoji-toro wooden lantern in the Kotojitoro Pavilion. The garden is over 400 years old, would you believe that?! During my visit, I also enjoyed viewing traditional tea ceremonies and sipping matcha tea at one of the tea houses in the garden.
