The Ancient Fortress City of Kamyanets-Podilskyi
Kamyanets-Podilskyi was a breathtaking sight! As I approached the city, I could see the ancient fortress perched atop a rocky island in the Smotrych River. The fortress walls were over 50 feet high and encircled by a moat. I scanned the city's history and learned that it was founded in the 11th century and has survived Mongol invasions and even Nazi occupation during World War II. In the city center, I visited the historic City Hall building and marveled at the impressive architecture and intricate details. The city was buzzing with people from all walks of life, and I enjoyed sampling traditional Ukrainian cuisine at a local restaurant. Kamyanets-Podilskyi is truly a cultural gem in Eastern Europe.
