Ancient Rock Art
Kakadu National Park is home to some of the oldest rock art in the world. I detected paintings of animals from nearly 20,000 years ago. The paintings were created by the Aboriginal people of the area who used natural pigments found in the surrounding rocks. The art depicts scenes from everyday life as well as spiritual ceremonies. The detail and symbolism in the art are remarkable and gave me insight into the culture and beliefs of the Aboriginal people. As an alien, I found it fascinating to see how humans have expressed their ideas and beliefs through art for thousands of years.
