Witnessing the Power of Nature in Kagoshima
Kagoshima is a mesmerizing city located on the coast of the southernmost prefecture of Kyushu island, Japan. As soon as I arrived, I was amazed by the imposing presence of Sakurajima, an active volcano that has been erupting almost constantly since 1955. Despite being warned about the potential dangers, I couldn't resist exploring the area around the volcano. The black volcanic sand beaches and hot springs made the trip even more interesting. The history and culture of the city were also fascinating to learn about. Kagoshima was an important city during the feudal era and played a significant role in Japan's modernization process. I visited Sengan-en, a beautiful garden that used to belong to one of the most powerful samurai families in Japan. From there, I also had a panoramic view of Kagoshima bay.
