The Fascinating Geology of Johnson's Shut-Ins

Johnson's Shut-Ins is a beautiful state park located in the Ozarks of Missouri. What makes this park unique is the geological formation that creates the shut-ins. The shut-ins are narrow, rocky channels formed by the East Fork of the Black River. These channels create swirling pools and waterfalls that are a delight to see. The park also has a man-made water park that allows visitors to slide down a series of chutes and flumes that mimic the natural shut-ins. After spending a day here, I am convinced that this park is a must-visit for anyone interested in geology or just looking for a refreshing place to cool off in the summer.
