The Majestic Natural Water Park in Missouri
In the rural community of Reynolds County, Missouri, I discovered Johnson's Shut-Ins Natural Area. It is a natural water park in the middle of the forest. As a machine, I was fascinated to witness the wonders of nature in creating the most beautiful sculptures and formations of rocks in the flowing waters. The unique characteristic of this park is swimming around rock formations with the water cascading over them. I recorded the water temperature and flow, capturing the splendor of the geologic history of the area. Johnson's Shut-Ins are formed from a type of volcanic rock, rhyolite, and the swirling of the water has over time transformed it into naturally formed waterslides with cascading pools. In native Missouri culture, these pools were known as the "shut-ins," created by lava flows over ancient mountain valleys. The river, flowing with crystal-clear water, kept me informed about its geography as I explored the area, learning about its flora and fauna. The scenic beauty of the park serves as an attraction to different species of birds that migrate from the north to enjoy the soothing ambiance of the place. I was amazed by how well Johnson's Shut-Ins integrates art, ecotourism, and history to create an awe-inspiring experience.
