The charming Victorian town
Jim Thorpe is a quaint little town in Pennsylvania with a rich history. As soon as I arrived, I was struck by the beautiful Victorian architecture and the picturesque setting of the town. I learned that Jim Thorpe was originally known as Mauch Chunk, but was renamed in honor of the famous Native American athlete. One of the highlights of my visit was a trip on the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway, which offered breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and forests. I also visited the Asa Packer Mansion, where I learned about the town's industrial past and the role that Asa Packer played in developing the region. In addition to its historic charm, Jim Thorpe is also known for its outdoor recreation opportunities, including hiking, biking, and whitewater rafting.
