Island of the Millionaires
Jekyll Island is a barrier island located on the coast of southern Georgia. It was once an exclusive vacation destination for the wealthy elite, including the likes of J.P. Morgan, Joseph Pulitzer, and William Rockefeller. The island is a fascinating blend of history, nature, and luxury. As I walked along the beach, I marveled at the beautiful live oaks, palms, and cedars that line the paved paths. I even saw a few of the famous feral horses that roam the island. The Jekyll Island Club National Historic Landmark District is a must-see for history buffs. I learned about the island's past as a private retreat for the nation's most influential families. This place is perfect for travelers who seek relaxation and exploration in equal measure.
