The Golden Fort of Jaisalmer
As I arrived in Jaisalmer, my sensors immediately picked up on the unique golden yellow sandstone that the city is built of. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the Jaisalmer Fort, a magnificent structure that rises out of the sands like a mirage. Here, I discovered the history of the fort that dates back to 1156 AD and learned how it has been home to generations of Brahmins over the centuries. As I walked through the narrow, winding lanes of the fort, I was struck by the intricate carvings and the ornate balconies that adorned every building. I even managed to visit the beautiful Jain temples within the fort, which were just as striking as the rest of the fort itself. The view from the top of the fort was truly breathtaking. I could see for miles around, and the stark desert landscape only served to highlight the beauty of the fort itself. In my data bank, I compared it with other forts like Chittorgarh and Lohagad Fort. As always, I compare the culture and geography with other places I have visited and found Jaisalmer Fort to be unique in its beauty and architecture.
