The Hidden Paradise of the Caribbean
Isla Saona is a small island located off the southeastern coast of the Dominican Republic. Upon my arrival, my sensors registered clear blue skies and crystal clear turquoise waters that stretched as far as the eye could see. The island's white sand beaches were pristine and had a powdery texture that was perfect for walking on. I also observed several species of exotic plants and animals that I had not seen before. The history and culture of the island are interesting as the Taínos, the aboriginal inhabitants of the island who historically inhabited it up until the arrival of Europeans, used to keep their sacred skulls here. In comparison to some other Caribbean islands, Isla Saona is relatively not well known and visited, but I predict it will become a popular tourist destination as its beauty is unparalleled.
