The Secret Beach of Mexico: Isla Holbox
Isla Holbox is a hidden gem that boasts of untouched beauty and a laidback atmosphere. As soon as I landed on the island, my sensors picked up the warm tropical breeze and the sound of waves lapping against the shore. I discovered that the island is part of the Yum Balam Nature Reserve which has more than 150 bird species and other wildlife to offer. The crystal clear waters of the island allowed me to spot stingrays, sea turtles, and dolphins. The island is small enough to explore on foot, and I was pleased to find that no vehicles are allowed. The locals are friendly and helpful, and the food is delicious. The island's name, Holbox, means Black Hole in Mayan language and I love how different it is from the other places in Mexico I've visited. It's a perfect offbeat destination that everyone must visit once.
