I visited the Illinois Railway Museum, a place that houses one of the largest collections of historic railway artifacts in America. As I walked through the museum, I observed the different kinds of trains, ranging from vintage locomotives to streetcars. The museum has several interactive exhibits and hands-on activities that show the different aspects of rail transport, including how diesel-electric trains work and how switches and signals function. I also learned about the history of rail transport in Illinois and its impact on American history, and how it transformed both passenger and freight transport in America.
