Preserving Endangered Species on Île aux Aigrettes

Île aux Aigrettes is a tiny island off the coast of Mauritius. It's only accessible by boat and has been designated as a nature reserve. The island has no human inhabitants and is home to many species of rare and endangered animals, including giant Aldabra tortoises, pink pigeons, and Telfair's skinks. As I explored the island, I learned about the conservation efforts to save these species from extinction, including captive breeding and habitat restoration programs. It was a fascinating glimpse into the intricate ecosystem of this beautiful island.
